Dr. Cheng has been practicing medicine for the past 12 years. He was born in Taiwan and grew up in the Houston areas of Alief and Sugar Land. He attended undergraduate studies at Houston Baptist University and received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Cheng received his Board certification in Internal Medicine and served for two years as an Attending Physician at Lyndon Baines Johnson General Hospital. During this time, he gained much experience in treating patients in the acute care setting while teaching medical students and residents in training.

Dr. Cheng has since been in private practice, caring for patients in both inpatient and outpatients settings. He currently has privileges at University General Hospital, where he also serves as Chief of Internal Medicine and Medical Director of the Hospitalist Program. Dr. Cheng specializes in the treatment of chronic medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus and heart disease, but strongly believes in the practice of Preventive Medicine. Not only does he counsel about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, but he personally enjoys the benefits of doing so himself. Dr. Cheng runs regularly at Rice University and weight-trains during the weekends. He values time spent with his wife, family and friends, traveling, and playing golf on those rare occasions.
